PLAIN LABEL STRING BAND

The Plain Label String Band has been a major contributor to the Lincoln, NE old time music scene since 1982. That's long enough for them to be really comfortable playing together, which allows them to relax and have fun with the music - and they do a good job of sharing that fun with the audience.

The members of Plain Label come from varied backgrounds. Steve Hull is an accomplished mandolin and guitar player, though he studied classical violin and choral music in his youth. Kathy Kuehn's past includes classical piano and musical comedy, which seem to have prepared her well for clawhammer banjo and the occasional well-delivered humorous song. A ittle time spent studying classical violin didn't hurt Sam Loken's ability to play a hot fiddle tune or jaw harp solo. Together they have explored the roots of American music and drawn from it to create a sound
of their own.

All three have followed the songwriting muse, and any Plain Label
performance is sure to include a few gems from their original
repertoire, along with a generous helping of great old time tunes and songs. And being that they are playing for us in March, they will throw in a few tune from Old Ireland to help us get warmed up for Saint Paddy's Day. What more could you ask for?
